Water sport opportunities are plentiful in the Eastern Plumas area with numerous lakes, the Feather River, and the Graeagle Millpond. Water sports include water skiing, jet skiing sailing, sail boarding, wind surfing, kayaking, canoeing, paddle boarding and swimming.

Water skiing, jet skiing and wake boarding are permitted on Frenchman Lake and Gold Lake; Sailing, sail boarding windsurfing and paddle boarding are permitted on most lakes, and kayaking, canoeing and rafting are permitted on all lakes and on the Feather River.

Lake and river swimming, Graeagle Millpond, and a swimming pool in Portola are all available.

River Rafting is available along the Feather River, with beginner-level canoeing, kayaking and float tubing possible along the more gentle eastern stretches, and Class II and III on the western stretches.

Boat Launching:  Major boat launching facilities are available at Lake Davis for fishing and other permitted boating, Frenchmen Lake, and Gold Lake. Boat launching is also available at Salmon Lake, Sardine Lake and Packer Lake within the Lakes Basin Recreation Area, and at the Graeagle Millpond.
